A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN written by Colin Ivan Osborn, was written out of frustration and pain experienced by many who had face to face accounts of abuse, dogma, condemnation and blatant disrespect from the "saints". Church is the one place where anyone should be able to go to in order to receive strength and revival. But around the time this play was written, Colin, along with a countless number of people he is connected to seemed to be experiencing some of the most painful, shameless and intentional waves of abuse from respected members of a community who in our homes were taught to always honor and respect. Church slavery was alive and strong. It was then decided to talk about these experiences. After tending to his own wounds inflicted from his own church experiences, Colin listened to the countless testimonies and stories shared by others of their similar experiences and realized the trend. Colin simply made the choice to bring these experiences to light and felt the most powerful platform to use to have this discussion is the theater. Thus A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN was born.
