But what do praise teams really go through? You’d be surprised. A SONG OF LIFE: In The Key Of Pain is an emotional story about Edward Charles and the renowned praise team of High Praise Church. As the leader of this famed group of singers, Eddie’s life and personal struggles highlighted which in turn helps his group to deal with their rooted issues. Does Eddie break and give into all that he is dealing with? Or does he stand on his faith and lead his group into the next level of ministry? [EDWARD CHARLES] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 20-35] [*SINGING REQUIRED - LEAD/TENOR] Very compassionate, caring, genuinely loving. Very serious about his work and serving God. Raw, upfront and honest. He is often misunderstood because of his rawness and honesty. He is the leader of the praise and worship team. Faithful and loyal. Very spiritual but very human. He is there for everyone and sacrifices himself often to help but often feels alone when dealing with his own trials. BUT when he goes through his struggle experiences, he shuts down. He is the transparent and vulnerable and not afraid to showcase this in front of people. [AUGUSTUS DAVIES] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 20-35] [*SINGING REQUIRED - TENOR] Eddie’s best friends. They are very similar. Augustus is Eddie’s voice of reason. He is the only one who has seen Eddie at his lowest point. Augustus is a protector and an advocate for right. He attempts to apply biblical principle to life situations, but occasionally will put aside his spiritual man and go into his “natural man”, if provoked. [LYNETTE RUFFIN] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 30-45] [*SINGING REQUIRED - CONTRALTO] Kind hearted, honest, loving. Can but overly emotional at times. She is always in her feelings about something which causes her to make decisions or says things without processing thoroughly. Lynette doesn’t sugar coat anything whatsoever. If she doesn’t like you, everyone knows. If she is not feeling something, everyone knows. People are intimidated by her because she is strong. She is ride or die. She is misunderstood. [TANISHA RAY] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 20-35] [*SINGING REQUIRED - SOPRANO] She is loyal to the church, and that’s it. She is overly super spiritual and doesn’t have the ability to respond to human circumstance. She is emotionally and spiritually disconnected and doesn’t appear to have a bone of compassion in her whatsoever. The only time she will show compassion is if she is trying to gain something. She is the example of nice nasty. [ROCHELLE DUNMORE] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 20-35] [*SINGING REQUIRED - ALTO] Rochelle is loud, stank, rude, bossy, controlling, unfiltered and overly bold. But she has a soft and loving side that she often hides. When she is in public, she is over the top and shallow. When she is alone, she is sweet and tends to give great advice. She will pray with you. She will cry with you. Despite her issues, she has a pure love for God and does her best to reverence him. Praise and Worship is her outlet. Her ego is her downfall. She does have a perfectionist side to her when it is time to perform. [LEANNE CHARLES- MOM] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 50-60] Very sweet and kind but contradictory at times. She feels stuck trying to be a supportive mother and a loving wife. She doesn’t know how to be woman universally. [MARSHALL CHARLES- DAD] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 50-60] Calm, collect and normal when things are going his way. When he feel’s out of control, he has no filter, no consideration for anyone’s feelings or situations. He becomes selfish and self-righteous. Can be verbally abusive. Hard shell, almost unable to crack. Hypermasculine. [PASTOR] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 40-50] Unaware of his own self-righteousness at times. Emotionally disconnected at times. But does have a conscious and a heart of repentance. [RECORD EXECUTIVE] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 35-50] Full of energy. Full of God’s love. Very positive and sincere. [JANITOR] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 60’s-70’s] Janitor doesn’t talk with voice but speaks with his body language and actions. Would be consider the comic relief in the story. * Vocalists please prepare a song to sing for the audition. ** Sides for audition will be provided once RSVP is received. Please memorize as best you can. Casting lead roles for short film.

Let me quickly share a funny story. Reginald aka "Pastor", called me a couple of days after the show. When I answered the phone, he asked me to explain my absence at rehearsal. I froze. "Oh My God, did I just miss a rehearsal that I scheduled? I've never done that", I began to think. He immediately busted into laughter. I then remembered the play was over. There was no rehearsal. Y'all, I had gotten so used to having rehearsals that my mind was still stuck in rehearsal mode. Reggie, Imma get you for that one bruh!
I am in awe to still see and hear the responses from those of you who attended the production on June 10. I know how it is after a month, we forget about what we may have seen. I know I do. It's human nature. But thank God for you all remembering A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN and wanting more. So I want to let you all know that A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN will be performed again. The cast and I are in revamp mode. So I encourage you all to stay connected for all updates and information. We have some amazing things coming up for you!!! Peace & Blessings, Colin Y'all!!!! When I tell you...We had a great time in the WQTQ studios w/ DJ Randall. Joshua ("Augustus Davies"), Trinene ("Lynette Ruffin") and I were able to share with listeners details about the play. We laughed so hard because DJ Randall called me someone else on the air. I stopped in the middle of his announcement and said, "Whats my name again?". The laughter that broke out in that radio station!! We so appreciate DJ Randall for advertising our production and for being a major supporter of A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN. Oh, and DJ Randall's music game is tight!!! LOL....
Colin Ivan Osborn and Anthony Pina-Ligon, Jr getting ready to be interviewed by Ronnie Spirit on 89.3 WRTC Thought Power programming to talk about A SONG OF LIFE IN THE KEY OF PAIN. It just so happened to be Southern Soul night...so there was a little bit more dancing than talking. It was an awesome interview.
